Harry Harrison

After a childhood spent in England, Libya and Singapore with his Air Force family, Harry took on a variety of unfulfilling jobs in the UK. In 1994, Harrison arrived in Hong Kong after a backpacking trip to India, intending to only spend 6 months in the city, working as a freelance illustrator.

Since then Harry’s work has become probably the most easily recognisable in Hong Kong. He is best known for his humorous and satirical cartoons in the SCMP which he started making in 2001. He has also created pieces for, amongst others The Guardian, Time, Asia Wall Street Journal, International Financing Review, and Far Eastern Economic Review. His popular collaboration with Sarah Brennan on a childrens’ book series based on the Chinese Zodiac is approaching its ninth instalment.

Awards for his work include top Editorial Cartooning recognition at SOPA Editorial Awards, and a special prize for a body of work at the Hong Kong Human Rights Press Awards.
