Lee Sellers
"A very unique, instantly recognisable style of painting that is all about the little people he populates his paintings with, Lee has captured the hearts of many people over the years in various exhibitions and solo shows. Originally from North Wales he now lives and works in London with his family where he takes inspiration for his characters from the everyday (and not so everyday) scenes that happen around him.
In essence his scenes are happy, quirky, and playful, these are sometimes purely fictitious scenarios, but others are real situations he has been in. Maybe it is Lee's experience of working as an actor himself that leads him to construct these scenes as a director would organise his cast, giving each tiny painted figure a role. Lee plays with the idea of the canvas as an object not just for these figures to be painted on to, but for them to interact with. Sometimes they are even armed with a paintbrush and can be seen painting a part of the scene themselves, or escaping from the canvas altogether.
Given the fact that we live in a busy over populated world means he is never short of scenarios for his little characters"
