Nance Lokos is a British born designer who currently lives and works in Hong Kong, she creates vibrant and mesmerising paintings depicting the complexity and beauty of life. She studied at Leeds College of Art and Design before completing a Creative Advertising degree at Bournemouth University.
Nance has been involved in the art and design scene for many years, (commercial and fine art) mainly commissioned pieces, but also using her art to help support charity organisations.
Over the past 4 years she has been developing her unique abstract art style, capturing and translating the complex journey of life, with all the twists and turns it presents. The idea originated when she was going through a particularly difficult time in her life, reflecting the small steps she needed to take to keep going forward and reflecting on how this has shaped the person she is today. Her work is both a celebration of life and statement of hope, optimism and to see adversity as a catalyst for change.
My art is a fusion of abstract, opart, and pop art styles that captures the vibrancy and complexity of life's journey. Through my painting, I explore the twists and turns of life, the unpredictability of the future, and the beauty of connection found in relationships, family, and community.
Drawing on my own experiences of overcoming life's challenges, I was inspired to capture these emotions on canvas using acrylics and with each stroke I painted it gave me an opportunity to express the confusion and vulnerability I was feeling. Looking back I realised that it all had to happen to make me the person I am today. I also seek inspiration from other people and the adversity they have overcome. Every journey is unique, and each obstacle we face can be a catalyst for growth and success, pushing us to become stronger, wiser, and more resilient.
My work celebrates the human spirit and our ability to rise above adversity with resilience and courage. It invites the viewer to reflect on their own journey and the obstacles they have overcome, to find inspiration and hope. Through my art, I aim to inspire, heal, and transform, bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of connection to all who view my paintings.
